Brought to you by the creators of GRADEpro

Guideline Development Tool is an easy to use all-in-one web solution for summarizing and presenting information for healthcare decision making. It supports creating concise summary tables for systematic reviews and health technology assessments as well as facilitates development of clinical practice guidelines and other documents making recommendations for public health or health policy decisions.

Best for both worlds

Guideline developers and authors of systematic reviews

Anyone preparing a systematic review will benefit from a simple online solution that assists creating summaries of evidence. Anyone developing clinical guidelines or other recommendations in healthcare will also benefit from a tool that smoothens the way of following a systematic and transparent process of making evidence-based decisions.

Facilitates creation of evidence tables

You will be able to create evidence summaries for presenting information required for decision making in various areas of healthcare. Available is a variety of formats: GRADE Evidence Profiles, Cochrane Summary of Findings tables and their variations adjusted to the type of available information. These formats will be improved and other formats will be created based on the research being done in the DECIDE project. You will be able to create summaries of information crafted to support health decisions of patents and the public, clinicians and other healthcare workers, public health officers and healthcare policy makers.

Simplifies process

With GDT you will be able to follow the whole process of developing recommendations in healthcare. It will help you manage your work from working group selection, through the declaration and management of potential conflicts of interest, defining the scope of the project, generating and prioritizing questions, creating lists of outcomes of interest and rating their importance, preparing evidence profiles and making decisions following the GRADE Evidence to Recommendations framework. All in sequence. All in one place.

Facilitates work with group members

With GDT you will find it a pleasure to interact with guideline panels or members of other groups preparing health care recommendations. There is a support for various polling and voting exercises that those groups perform during recommendation development process. No more endless chains of email messages or lost voting results. Now all in one place documented for your convenience and transparency.

Helps to produce apps for mobile devices

With little effort using GDT you are able to prepare information that may easily be converted to an app for mobile devices. Following the GRADE Evidence to recommendations framework facilitates creation of concise evidence summaries for clinicians, other healthcare workers and the public. The format will follow the optimal presentation determined by the research done within the European Union-sponsored DECIDE project. There will be other formats available as well.

Interacts with RevMan

You can import results of statistical analyses from Cochrane Collaboration's Review Manager and export a summary of findings table into the RevMan file. RevMan is the software used for preparing and maintaining Cochrane Reviews. The GDT supports import and export to RevMan 5 format, with more seamless integration on the way.

Backs up your data on a secure server

Now all your work is on your computer and backed up on a server that securely stores all your data (requires Internet connection). You can share your work with all your team and collaborate on the project wherever in the World. This also means that you can work on your documents on any computer anywhere in the world – even in an internet cafe in Taravao (well, you can but why on earth would you?!)

Does not depend on an operating system

No matter which operating system your computer uses GDT will work. No need to get a new computer that will run it (yep, really... not an excuse any more). It works on Windows, OSX, Linux and even on iOS.

Works online and offline

You can work online and offline. For best experience use Chrome or Safari browsers. There is a convenient way to install a plugin required for offline work. Functionality with other browsers may be limited at this time. Do not despair! We are working on it.

Supports multiple languages

In addition to English, you will soon be able to use GDT in Spanish, too. We plan to add support for Arabic, Dutch, French, German and Italian. Support for other languages is also possible, though not planned at this time. It will happen earlier with a little help from our friends.
